Jump Start January 2025 Challenge: Week 3, Fun Stuff

We’re on to Week Three of the 2025 Jump Start January challenge, and after last week’s organising and cleaning it’s time to relax and have fun.
A change of pace is much needed at this time of year, especially if the weather’s cold and grey. We all need a pick-me-up. Let’s keep ourselves entertained for the next seven days, while not spending too much money.
Yes, time for Fun Stuff.
Jump Start January 2025: Week Three Schedule

There’s something new to try every day, so here’s the list:
- Day 15: Listen to music
- Day 16: Game on
- Day 17: Comedy night
- Day 18: (Saturday) Get creative
- Day 19: (Sunday) Enjoy nature
- Day 20: Film or TV
- Day 21: A good read
Let’s look at the full listings for all of these activities.
Day 15: Listen to music
Enjoy listening to music, whatever genre you like today. It could be relaxing, inspiring, energising, make you feel like dancing or bring back happy memories. Listen to your music collection, or the radio or a streaming service, or try a music podcast if you have time.
Day 16: Game on
Get into a game or two today, whether it’s a puzzle, a video game, a board game, or a physical game like darts, geocaching or VR sports. It’s up to you whether you want to play a game on your own, such as patience or a game on your phone, or take on opponents. You could also arrange a games night for the weekend if you don’t have time today.
Day 17: Comedy night
Everyone has their own sense of humour, so find something you like for a good laugh. That could be a TV show, humour books or audiobooks, a webseries, comedy podcasts, friends who make you laugh, or whatever else you want. There may even be a free or cheap comedy night somewhere near you.
Day 18: (Saturday) Get creative
We’re all capable of being creative in some way, even if you don’t see yourself as particularly artistic. Spend at least half an hour today drawing, doodling, painting, scrapbooking, making papier mache, knitting, upcycling furniture or ornaments, making music or videos, writing, trying a new recipe, etc.
Day 19: (Sunday) Enjoy nature
Nature can be calming, uplifting, or even awe-inspiring, so let’s spend some time being part of nature today. You could watch a documentary about animals, learn about fungi or birds, do some gardening or look after houseplants, take a walk in the hills or through the woods, or take photographs of frosty leaves or clouds.
Day 20: Film or TV
It’s Monday, so keep it simple and put your feet up and watch something. That could be a film or a TV show in any genre that you like. It could be an old comfort watch or a new find, either recorded, streamed or live. Give it your full attention if you can, and get lost in the narrative or the story to get the most out of it.
Day 21: A good read
Read a chapter of a book or listen to an audiobook today. It could be fiction, non-fiction, or a graphic novel, anything that draws you in. If you don’t have anything at home to read, try your local library, a library app for ebooks and audio, a little library or a local facebook group that gives books away for free, or visit you favourite author’s website and download a free short story or sample chapter.
I hope you have a fun week with plenty to keep yourself entertained! Remember, if you miss a day during the week then it’s fine to catch up at the weekend.
