Best value supermarket champagne in 2024

Best value supermarket champagne for 2024 award winning cheap fizz

My annual guide to the best value supermarket champagne has landed, and 2024 is looking like an excellent year for finding some quality fizz. There’s plenty of award-winning champagne to check out here, and as usual I’ve found you some tempting deals and offers to keep those all-important prices down.

As in previous years, we’ll be concentrating on the different types of bubbly in this order:

  • Non vintage (N.V.) champagne – plenty of top picks for a range of budgets and tastes
  • Rosé champagne – three award-winners that caught my eye
  • Vintage champagne – four special bottles worth spending a little extra on

Champagne is the ultimate luxury drink for special occasions, and each one has its own individual character. I’ve included some tasting notes to give you an idea of what to expect, and included all top award winning champagne that cost £30 or less in a supermarket near you – usually much less (prices from £13.99).

As new offers arrive, and more awards are announced, I’ll be keeping you updated too.

Okay, let’s get the first chilled bottle out of the ‘fridge and pop a cork!

NON-VINTAGE CHAMPAGNE: Best of the best for 2024

Let’s take a good look at the best value non-vintage (N.V.) supermarket champagne on the market this year, as it’s easily the most popular type of champagne on sale in the UK.

There is so much award-winning champagne to choose from for your Christmas and New Year celebrations, and I’ve whittled it down to eight that are both high scorers and offering good value for money. It’s good news if you want some French fizz on a budget: two of these champagnes are under £15.00.

While spending more on champagne doesn’t necessarily guarantee you a better drink, the top four here do cost a few pounds more – although not that much more – and can often be picked up for only £2-£5 extra during offers.

AWARD WINNING VINTAGE CHAMPAGNE 2024

Vintage champagnes are made from grapes collected during one single year, usually when the quality is considered especially good. It costs more to make, and generally has a richer flavour, less acidity and softer bubbles.

The difference in production means vintage champagnes often score higher in taste tests – you may prefer to spend a little extra on one for a special occasion, budget permitting.

Four supermarkets have done superbly well with their vintage champagnes this year, starting with this top one from the Co-op that’s won a category trophy as well as two gold medals. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a supermarket pick up a best-in-category medal before!
