Four things I’ve loved this month: July 2024

Let’s have a little round-up of latest loves, shall we? I’ve been browsing around and it’s time for some affordable treats, and products that offer good quality at fair prices.
Jelly Joker cleanser 150ml by Geek & Gorgeous | £8.95

Geek & Gorgeous are best known for their amazing value Vitamin C serum, exfoliating liquids, and retinal creams (like retinol but stronger), but this gentle non-foaming cleanser is fast becoming one of their bestsellers.
It’s fragrance free, and cleanses thoroughly without stripping the skin, leaving skin soft and healthy. Just massage it onto a wet face, and rinse off completely. Great for a morning wash, or a second cleanse at night after removing any waterproof makeup.
FIND AT >> Geek & Gorgeous (use the UK price option) and also Amazon UK (costs £9.46).
Extra Special Chenin Blanc at ASDA | £7.00

This wine has just won the International Wine Challenge ‘Great Value White under £8’ award, and scored 92/100 (silver medal). It’s also recently gained a Decanter Awards 2024 bronze medal and IWSC bronze medal.
There are aromas of tropical fruits, nectarine and citrus. It’s quite rich for a chenin blanc wine, as it’s grown on old vines and fermented with oak, giving a chardonnay-like flavour. Try it paired with roasted vegetables, roast chicken, salmon, crab, lobster, pork or goat’s cheese.
FIND AT >> ASDA (not currently on offer but look out for regular multi-buys).
P.S. ASDA’s Extra Special Sicilian Reserva, £7.75, also won them the IWC ‘Great Value Red Under £8’ award if you prefer a full-bodied red.
Yes Friends organic cotton tank top | £12.00

It’s not always easy to find ethical, sustainably-made clothing that’s also affordable, but Yes Friends have managed to do it with their organic cotton tops, tees and sweatshirts. I especially like this forest green vest top but there’s lots of other designs to choose from.
Their tops are very nice quality, most are available in sizes 3XS to 4XL, and they’re Fairtrade and GOTS certified free from toxic chemicals. Their main factory also uses solar power and water conservation techniques so they tick a lot of environment-friendly boxes as well as looking good.

Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics SPF50 sunscreen 50ml | RRP £16.00

This is the most gentle Korean sunscreen I’ve ever used, and my sensitive skin loves the smooth application, light hydration and lack of white cast. It’s one of the few that doesn’t sting my eyes, and it sits beautifully under makeup. I use it for work days when I’m mostly indoors but need a bit of sun protection for travel time or running errands.
I prefer something stronger like Heliocare for longer sun exposure such as beach holidays and long walks in the sunshine, but Relief Sun Rice + Probiotics is ideal for ordinary days. There are lots of Beauty of Joseon deals around, but fake bottles have been reported so stick to reliable retailers like established Korean skincare specialists or big high street chemists if you want to pick some up.
FIND AT >> Skinsider (regularly have big discounts, and I stock up) and Boots.
