New Uniqlo x Christopher Lemaire collaboration
Uniqlo has once again teamed up with French fashion designesr Christophe Lemaire and Sarah-Linh Tran, and the Autumn / Winter 2024 Uniqlo U collection has just arrived. As expected, it’s flying off the shelves already.
It features Lemaire’s signature elevated urbanwear style, and you can mix and match just about everything. As with the designer’s Paris catwalk collection, the range features casual and contemporary trench coats and macs, jackets, edgy jeans and trousers, and plenty of tops and knits for layering together.
For a fashion-forward outfit, choose tone-on-tone colours in muted shades of black, chocolate brown, ecru or khaki green. Or just add one or two interesting pieces from this capsule collection into your usual autumn wardrobe, including pops of mustard or soft purple.
Fabrics are great quality for the price, including lambswool, merino, cotton and Lyocell, and garments often feature small quirky details that lift them beyond the plain and everyday.
If you look through the womenswear section you’ll see male models wearing some of the clothes. There are female models wearing some of the menswear too. Some of the pieces are more feminine, others lean in the direction of genderless and sporty (I’ve definitely spotted men out in the wild wearing the women’s jeans).
Speaking of jeans, this season’s pair, £34.90, do come up quite large. I treated myself to a black pair, and ended up going two sizes smaller than my usual size – other customers also say they’re taking a size or two smaller, so try before you buy. They’re pleat fronted, with a high waist and wide leg; a bit edgy but also warm and comfortable.
The coats and jackets are especially popular, and the turtleneck and crew neck jumpers (£39.90 and £34.90 respectively) are classic ‘buy it once, keep it forever’ pieces. Have a look and see what you think.
